Based at our North Kingstown, RI facility this role will provide Manufacturing Engineering support for assembly of new and legacy Hayward products to improve quality and efficiency of production processes.
Major Tasks and Responsibilities:
· Responsible for developing new production processes, utilizing automated production lines where appropriate
· Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods and standards by utilizing lean concepts, design for manufacturability, and design for automation concepts.
· Analyzes, improves, and plans work force utilization, space requirements, equipment layout, and workflow to ensure maximum efficiency
· Responsible for troubleshooting existing equipment, processes, and assembly to resolve issues and avoid delays in production
· Collaborates with other departments including safety, quality, product engineering, and production scheduling regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes
· Design, install, and qualify new equipment to meet production goals
· Works with external vendors to determine product specifications for new capital equipment within required timelines and budgets
· Estimates production routing times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions
· Participate in a lead role for Kaizen events to ensure continuous process improvement
· All other duties as assigned to support the Manufacturing Engineering department’s responsibilities
Experience with PC based Word, Excel, MS Project, Access, Power Point
· Ability to effectively communicate and present information to management, engineers, vendors, assembly line supervisors and operators.
· Ability to read and understand wiring schematics
· Solid works experience required
· Experience with PLC systems
· Experience with lean manufacturing methods, Green belt certification preferred
· Experience with automated production work cells
Education and Experience:
· Bachelor of Science degree (B.S) from a four-year college or university in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or similar
· 1-3 years’ experience in a related position within a manufacturing environment
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, hear, stand and walk. The employee will frequently be required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds using proper lifting techniques. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
