control and energy solutions at our company owned facilities. Headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, Hayward also has facilities in Tennessee, Arizona, and Rhode Island as well as Canada, Spain, France, Australia, and China. 

 

EH&S Safety Coordinator will be responsible for identifying, analyzing, interpreting and mitigating EHS risks at Hayward Rhode Island.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the Environmental Health and Safety policies.
  • Required to comprehend, analyze, interpret, communicate and apply EHS government industry regulations related principles and practices, and company instructions, procedures and policies.
  • Required to manage OSHA reporting for all required documentation as well as training on OSHA mandated topics.
  • Required to participate in facility inspections made by authorized government agencies as well as insurance agencies.
  • Responsible for identifying environmental, health, safety and security risks with the site.
  • Responsible for performing risk assessments throughout the site.
  • Responsible for conducting monthly EHS audits across the site.
  • Responsible for leading the safety committee in monthly safety meetings.
  • Responsible to train and evaluate all new, temporary, and contract employees in following security and safety procedures including wearing PPE. 
  • Comply with all EPA inspections and reporting requirements. 
  • Foster a work environment that promotes energy conservation and continuous improvement. 
  • Comply with all safety and environmental procedures, including hazardous chemical/material control, lockout-tag out programs, and other building awareness programs.
  • Respond to facility and safety alarm situations.  Continually monitor upkeep of facilities to be in a safe state
  • Prepare action plans to mitigate or decrease risk factors throughout the site.
  • Responsible for transforming raw data into easily understood, presentable, and actionable findings.
  • Ability to handle multiple, concurrent tasks with accuracy and proficiency in a fast-paced environment throughout the site.
  • Collaborating with all levels across site to conduct and mitigate risks.
  • Provide quarterly training and certification for site staff so that they can be aware of risks.
  • Maintain confidentiality of company–sensitive data.
  • Keep manager informed of activities and situations that will impact the achievement of corporate or department goals and objectives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
  • Requires experience managing people
  • Team player with leadership skills
  • Ability to interact and communicate with all levels in a culturally diverse work environment
  • Highly organized
  • Ergonomist or Industrial Hygienist preferred

 

Education and Experience:

  • Required:
    • Associates degree or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Health & Safety,  Safety Engineering, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or related discipline
    • OSHA 30 hour course completion
    • 5+ years experience in a manufacturing environment with knowledge of Lean

Physical Requirements:

 

Must be physically able to lift up to 30 pounds frequently. Other physical tasks required include pushing, reaching, climbing, and stooping to perform tasks.
