This position will be responsible for managing the day-to-day aspects of the corporate risk and insurance function. Key
responsibilities include designing, implementing, and overseeing risk transfer and control strategies and policies as well as
managing insurance operations, renewals, and claims. This individual will work closely with internal stakeholders (e.g. Legal, Supply Chain, HR, Operations), including executive leadership, as well as insurance companies and brokers. Curiosity, effective communication, the ability to balance strategy and detail, and the ability to drive change will be key attributes for success in this position. This position reports to the Vice President of Treasury and Risk.
· Identify, analyze, and document the Company’s risk exposures; suggest and drive methods of mitigating or transferring risks; collaborate with, and if needed lead, internal stakeholders on risk control strategy and implementation.
· Attend risk engineering visits; drive closure on open recommendations/findings.
· Explore new ways to balance the Company’s Total Cost of Risk against appropriate risk mitigation.
· Optimize supplier and customer contracts to ensure risk is appropriately mitigated or transferred; ensure insurance and risk provisions of executed contracts are enforced.
· Manage the day-to-day operations of the Company’s corporate insurance portfolio; manage global insurance placement and renewals.
o Review strategy and deliverables for each line of coverage with brokers and management
o Collect and analyze underwriting data
o Develop and co-present marketing submissions directly to underwriters; lead underwriter visits to Company sites
where needed
o Review renewal documentation (e.g. quotes, binders, policies, invoices, etc) for accuracy, and archive same
o Validate and process all insurance related invoices; resolve accounting, premium payment, and similar matters
o Manage insurance company audits
· Prepare insurance budgets and forecasts; identify and manage variances to forecasted income statement and balance sheet based on claim development or insurance premiums; partner with actuary and controllership to determine appropriate claims reserves.
· Manage insurable claims; lead the third-party claims administrator (TPA) relationship; liaison between internal personnel and TPA; support claims outside of TPA scope.
· Manage broker and other third-party service provider relationships and drive accountability for service and deliverables.
· Maintain schedules of insurance and create ad-hoc reporting for management (e.g., Total Cost of Risk, Budget, etc.)
· Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of risks, insurance policies, and claims. Automate and improve risk and
insurance processes, including potential implementation of software.
· Support Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), including oversight of ERM plans in LogicManager.
· Perform ad hoc tasks and projects as needed or directed.
· Bachelor’s degree in risk management, insurance, finance, or related field.
· 5+ years of experience in corporate insurance (property/casualty), risk management/control, and/or operational audits. A very strong corporate finance background may be considered for an otherwise stellar candidate.
· 2+ years of experience in team management/development.
· Strong MS Office skills, especially in Excel and PowerPoint.
· Effective communicator, verbally and in writing, across all levels of the organization.
· Possess strong analytical skills and attention to detail, including ability to assess complex documents.
· Ability to periodically travel domestically and internationally to Hayward sites and to meet underwriters and risk engineers.
· Ability to create and deliver polished presentations and financials analyses to leadership.
· Ability to collaborate across functions and levels within a global organization, adapting to varied and changing requirements.
· Ability to assess current state, identify and implement solutions, while also ensuring daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly
deliverables are completed timely, completely, and accurately.
· Ability to take ownership, meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, ask questions, solve problems, manage multiple projects with minimal oversight, and personally execute tactical deliverables (hands-on) where needed.
