Headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, Hayward also has facilities in Tennessee, Arizona, and Rhode Island as well as Canada, Spain, France, Australia, and China.  This position is based in North Kingstown, RI. 

 

Position Overview: Oversee the overall SAFE operation of the manufacturing department to ensure continuous flow and on time delivery of product to the customer at the highest quality and lowest cost within a build to order/build to stock manufacturing environment. Direct reports are 1st and 2nd shift production line supervisors and several group leaders responsible for the day-to-day operation of PCBA, assembly, test and packaging departments. Lead, support, motivate and develop all factory initiatives toward implementing the Lean Enterprise vision of the business. Partner with manufacturing and test engineering to identify and facilitate continuous improvement activities.

Responsibilities

· Oversee the daily operations of production personnel via Line Leads and Supervisors, focusing on work assignments, training, cross-training, timecards, vacation planning, salary and performance reviews, and necessary disciplinary actions.

· Consistently implement and enforce company policies alongside safety regulations.

· Define staffing and capacity requirements while managing associated inventory to surpass customer expectations and enhance working capital utilization.

· Coordinate and maintain essential staffing, providing training for flexibility, and adjusting work practices and procedures to accommodate fluctuations in product demand.

· Enforce the requirement that all standard work procedures are followed, that operators are certified to perform assembly assignments and that Job Certification records are maintained. Oversee the certification of operators for same to ensure the most flexible workforce possible.

· Engage in daily GEMBAs to guarantee that all production information—including safety, quality, productivity, utilization, and 5S—is continually updated, ensuring production personnel are informed of their performance and essential improvement requirements.

· Responsible for implementing and maintaining a 5S system that is sustainable.

· Lead and mentor others to lead daily point Kaizen and A3 activities to drive continuous improvement. Ensure effective collaboration of problem-solving activities with Mfg. and Test Engineering.

· In conjunction with manufacturing and design engineering, ensure new product introduction and product obsolescence activities are supported and implemented in a timely fashion.

· Establish and maintain good supplier-customer relationships with other operating groups and departments.

· Provide finance and plant management with departmental performance information.

· Identify and develop areas to improve accuracy and simplify the use of operating systems.

· Actively participate in the Engineering Change process by collaborating with manufacturing engineering and production management. Drive efforts to ensure all proposed changes are fully documented for production use, address the stated issue, and avoid adding unnecessary complexity to manufacturing. Confirm that cost impacts are clearly understood and recorded. Ensure all approved changes are effectively communicated and implemented in manufacturing in a timely manner. 

· Manage all capacity requirements. Aim to meet and exceed all productivity targets.

· Ensure plant and equipment maintenance plans are in place and followed. Areas include, ESD, manufacturing equipment maintenance and calibration.

· Performs all other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager.

Qualifications

Education, Experience and Qualifications:

· B.S. degree and/or 10+ years experience managing $100Million+ high tech electronics manufacturing facility

· Direct experience of various quality systems (Lean, Six Sigma, ISO)

· Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

· Self-motivated and self-directed

· Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.

· Excellent project management skills.

· Ability to multi-task with a proactive approach to issue resolution.

· Strong commitment to employee development with an emphasis on selection, retention and promotion.

· Ability to clearly think through the critical tasks that need to be done (or facilitate team through this process), assign ownership and due dates.

· Anticipate issues and set appropriate contingency plans during planning process.

· Take corrective action when needed to keep program on track, communicate upward when objectives cannot be met with recovery plan.

 

 

Physical Requirements:

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, hear, stand and walk. The employee will frequently be required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
