Kingstown, RI. 


The Senior Electrical Engineer will have strong electronics design and product development experience with excellent problem solving, hardware debug, and system level interaction troubleshooting expertise. This role will have an emphasis on sustaining engineering—troubleshooting existing products and systems and own updates through to product re-launch. The Senior Electrical Engineer collaborates with product management, product development, mechanical, firmware, reliability engineering, quality, customer service, manufacturing, and test engineering to develop innovative, industry leading pool controls, lighting, pump systems, robotic cleaners, IoT systems, heaters, heat pumps, pool sanitization systems and more.

Responsibilities

Investigative Problem-Solving:

  • Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions in existing electrical products or systems; make modifications and test systems as needed to debug hardware.
  • Lead development of requirements, identify technical solutions, evaluate, and present "trade off" options to best accommodate platforms and common engineering tools.

Design Optimization:

  • Collaborate with design team during product development.
  • Conduct design reviews and specify components.
  • Optimize PCB layouts, component choices, and signal integrity.

Test, Validate, and Re-Launch Product:

  • Develop and execute test methods for design validation.
  • Simulate/design/build/test as necessary, participate and conduct design reviews, support prototype development and testing during initial verification, responsible for circuit Design/Verify/Test and pilot phases
  • Coordinate re-validation testing and system certification for: HALT, Thermal, EMC/EMI, UL, CE conformance, etc...
  • Coordinate with manufacturing engineering for production support during early stages of product re-launch

Communicate with Stakeholders:

  • Collaborate with firmware engineers, mechanical designers, system architects to develop product architecture.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, engineering specifications, and design requirements
  • Provide both high level and detailed project work breakdown
  • Use simulation and presentation tools to effectively communicate design methodologies

Continuous Learning:

  • Stay current with industry trends.
  • Attend conferences, read whitepapers, and tinker with side projects.

Qualifications

Experience:

  • 5+ years as an electrical design engineer / product developer based on education completed
  • Proficiency in schematic capture tools (Altium, KiCad, Eagle) and PCB layout.
  • Familiarity with embedded systems, microcontrollers, and analog/digital circuitry.
  • Experience with electrical safety standards, EMC and environmental compliance desired
  • Experience in design for long life / high MTBF desired
  • Knowledge of mechanical/thermal/packaging design for industrial electronics
  • Self-directed drive to complete assigned tasks based on production deadlines
  • Occasional travel is required

Education:

  • BSEE + 5 years of relevant experience
  • MSEE preferred
