Hayward designs, manufactures, and markets a full line of residential and commercial pool and spa equipment including pumps, filters, heating, cleaners, salt chlorinators, automation, lighting, safety, flow control and energy solutions at our company owned facilities. Headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, Hayward also has facilities in Tennessee, Arizona, and Rhode Island as well as Canada, Spain, France, Australia, and China.  The is role is remote and can be based in the US, Canada, France, or Spain.   

 

The Data Engineer will be part of the Global Data Analytics Center of Excellence and will play a pivotal role in helping determine strategy and direction for the Analytics team and execute the strategy. Building strong working relationships across IT technical, security, development, and business analyst teams is essential. The Data Engineer will assist with the architecting and management of the data warehouse, ensuring data quality, integrity, and efficiency. Additionally, the Data Engineer will design and implement processes for accurate and timely data ingestion.

Responsibilities

Staying proactive with data technologies and trends, the Data Engineer will implement innovative solutions while maintaining deep technical knowledge to support current and future data engineering needs. The Data Engineer will engage with cross functional stakeholders and developers, ensuring that best practices are defined and followed throughout the landscape.

 

Data Pipeline Development:

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable and robust data pipelines to support data science projects and business analytics needs.
  • Ensure data is readily available and accessible for various stakeholders across the enterprise.
  • Experience working in cloud environments such as AWS or Azure, and the ability to create efficient and effective data solutions in a developing and evolving infrastructure.

 

Data Management and Integration:

  • Integrate data from multiple sources, ensuring data quality, consistency, and reliability.
  • Implement data governance and best practices to maintain the integrity and security of data.

 

Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Work closely with stakeholders from finance, IT, marketing, supply chain, commercial, and operations to understand their data needs and deliver solutions.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaborations to drive data-driven decision-making.

Qualifications

Capabilities/Qualifications:

  • Proven experience (5+ years) in data engineering, including building and managing data pipelines, data warehousing, and ensuring data quality and integrity.
  • Expertise in cloud environments such as AWS or Azure, with hands-on experience in building and deploying scalable data solutions.
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with data warehousing solutions like Snowflake, Redshift, or BigQuery.
  • Experience with ETL tools and processes, including designing, implementing, and maintaining efficient and scalable ETL workflows using tools such as Apache Airflow, Talend, or Informatica.
  • Experience working with large amounts of data and extracting insights from complex datasets; demonstrated track record of driving impact through data-driven decision-making.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to innovate in ambiguous situations.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to effectively convey complex ideas to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Passion for continuous learning and staying updated with the latest advancements in data engineering and technology.
  • Prior experience in supply chain, operations, or manufacturing domains preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with a proven track record in working with large amount of data from different sources and providing meaningful insights.
  • Highly motivated, self-driven, curious, and creative; ability to manage complexity and ambiguity.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, able to work effectively with cross-functional teams and independently.

Education / Experience:

  • 4-year college degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Engineering, or another relevant field.
  • MBA or MS preferred.
