We are growing our Product Engineering team. This role is based in Clemmons, NC.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for development of new products, or redesign of existing products to specified project requirements as assigned by the Director of Engineering.
• Leads product development efforts from concept to completion on assigned projects, working with Product Management to ensure that final design meets all project deliverables.
• Works with Product Management to develop project business plans and capital requests for new products.
• Leads and participates on multi-functional design/development teams.
• Develops test specifications and oversees qualification and performance testing on all new products.
• Develops and maintains design files for assigned projects.
• Estimates product and project (i.e. Engineering labor) costs, as well as capital costs for assigned projects.
• Interfaces with suppliers for assigned projects to determine feasibility of proposed manufacturing methods, as well as to render “make/buy” decisions.
• Works with manufacturing or suppliers to resolve design related manufacturing issues.
• Develops all new part numbers, bills of material, component and assembly models and drawings for assigned projects.
• Interfaces with Technical Service and Sales to provide technical support to resolve customer issues.
• Occasionally travels to the field to provide technical training or support to Sales and customers

Qualifications

• Proficient use of PC required (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project).
• Proficient use of CAD and analysis programs required (AutoCad, ProE, SolidWorks, FEA, CFD, etc.).
• Knowledge of Design for Lean Sigma, or other Phase/Gate development process preferred.
• Ability to effectively communicate with all levels within the organization.
• Must be able to work in a cross-functional team environment.
• Must possess proven ability to design for manufacturability.
• Must be able to execute multiple projects and responsibilities simultaneously.

 

Education, Experience, Licenses/Certificates


• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited 4-year university.
• Minimum of ten (10) years experience in Design Engineering, Product Engineering, or New Product Development.
• Valve, PVF, pump, or flow measurement industry experience is required.
• Must have experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably an injection molding and/or machine shop environment.
• Experience in a Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma environment preferred.
