Robotics Automation Intern

Hayward designs, manufactures, and markets a full line of residential and commercial pool and spa equipment including pumps, filters, heating, cleaners, salt chlorinators, automation, lighting, safety, flow control and energy solutions at our company owned facilities. Headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, Hayward also has facilities in Tennessee, Arizona, and Rhode Island as well as Canada, Spain, France, Australia, and China.  This position is based ­in Kingstown, RI.

The North Kingstown RI facility specifically manufactures lights, chlorinators, controls, and Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBAs) which get shipped intercompany, to distribution, or direct to customers.

The Robotics Engineering Intern will

• Development of base code for Mecademic robot to be used to automate manual production test procedures.
• Analyze product flow throughout facility to develop mobile robot use cases.

YOUR Goals and Experiences: 

• Gain hands-on experience in a real-world manufacturing environment to apply knowledge learned in the classroom.
• Use CAD tools to develop custom end effector tooling.
• Developing control applications for industrial robots.
• Business objective: Gain efficiencies in production and material handling through expanded automation.
• Exoected deliverables includes:
  • Base code for Mecademic robot to be used to automate manual production test procedures.
  • Deployment plan for mobile robots for materials handling. 

• Rising Junior or Senior enrolled in an undergraduate program in the field of Mechanical Engineering or Test Engineering
• Good academic standing
