    Position Overview:

    Plans, directs, and coordinates manufacturing processes in the production department.  Develops, evaluates and improves manufacturing methods and standards, analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements and workflow.


    Major Tasks and Responsibilities:

    • Advanced development, evaluation & improvement in manufacturing methods and standards.
    • Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements and workflow. Designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
    • Works collaborative with teams on new product development.
    • Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards, including justification & capital appropriations request.
    • Estimates production times, staffing requirements and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
    • Confers with management, engineering and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
    • Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.



    Experience with PC based Word for Windows and Excel or Lotus 1-2-3 software preferred.  Proficiency with MRP/SPC desired.  Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory and factor analysis.  Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals.  Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.   Ability to effectively present information to management, engineers, vendors and assembly line supervisors and workers.  Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.


    Education and Experience:

    • BS Degree in Industrial, Mechanical or Mfg Engineering or related technical degree
    • 3 – 5 years related experience and/or training
    • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing experience a plus
