    Position Overview:

     

    Functions as the HR Business Partner for a manufacturing facility. Responsible for aligning HR objectives with strategic organizational objectives. Works closely and guides management in various areas such as safety, employee relations, leadership development, change management, performance consulting, diversity management, conflict management, legal compliance, etc. Viewed by the plant team as a partner, coach and resource.

    Responsibilities

    • Safety: Manage and track safety training, plant incidents/accidents and safety programs, plus case management for worker’s compensation, to ensure our employees work in a safe environment.
    • Compliance: Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal labor and employment laws. Assist in the creation and implementation of general policies and procedures.
    • Recruiting: Develop local networks and manage recruiting in a cost effective and timely manner using existing HPP guidelines.
    • Communication: Develop and facilitate effective programs to communicate with employees at all levels and provide solutions that support positive business results.
    • Engagement: Support management in identifying, analyzing, and resolving human resources trends or problems to maintain high levels on involvement and accountability from employees.   Organize plant celebrations for key events or celebrations.
    • Discipline: Act as a neutral advocate for employees and the company. Coordinate discipline within the plant and conduct thorough investigations as needed.
    • Performance Management: Work collaboratively with plant management to develop objectives and development goals that will create accountability and drive strong business results.  Support management with coaching techniques for hourly employees.
    • Training & Development: Train plant leadership to build skill, proficiency and knowledge of techniques in management and the supervision of employees. Assist in the development of training initiatives for our employees.
    • Employee Relations: Review and advise on all personnel actions including merit increases, promotions, transfers, and discipline. Ensure the uniform application of policies and procedures.  
    • Affirmative Action:   Act as the local Affirmative Action Officer to ensure recruiting and promotion strategies and decisions are in keeping with diversity initiatives. Maintain applicant tracking sytem and other documentation to support annual Plan development.
    • Values: Challenge and direct plant management team to apply Hyward Industries Values and leadership principles on day-to-day actions and decisions.
    • Compensation: Ensure salary decisions meet existing Hayward guidelines and obtain necessary approvals per audit guidelines. Understand the local market and make recommendations regarding compensation strategy.
    • Management: Direct the duties of the HR Admin
    • Projects: Assist HR leadership in projects as needed.
    • Identifies legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting HR function (e.g., OSHA, EEO, ADA, Wage and Hour, FMLSA, DOT); Monitors compliance and directs the preparation of information required. Partners with senior executive team to ensure understanding of and compliance with HR policies.
    • Other duties as needed.

     

    Qualifications

    • Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
    • Five years of experience in Human Resources. Experience independently identifying, developing and leading key strategic projects to meet corporate business goals. Ability to identify opportunities and lead change.
    • Knowledge of HRIS and payroll software to assure accurate record-keeping, reporting, administrative compliance consistent with regulatory and internal practices. Ability to utilize available data for assessment of current state on progress of key initiatives.
    • Previous experience driving positive results in a manufacturing environment.
    • Experience in establishing effective approaches to improve employee engagement.
    • Effective in problems solving and alternative dispute resolution.
    • Experience and comfort working in team-based environment.
    • Strong organizational skills and ability effectively handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to communicate with all levels of employees especially during difficult and challenging situations.
    • Knowledge in the area of talent acquisition, performance management and retention.
    • Experience in preparing and delivering training to employees on a number of HR/policy topics.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.

    Preferred Education and Experience:

    A Master's degree in human resource management.

     

    Additional Eligibility Qualifications:

    SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential.
