    Position Overview:

     

    The Human Resource Generalist will work collaboratively with the HR Manager providing human resource support to our employees and work as a business partner in achieving business objectives. 
    This position will support a broad range of human resource activities including payroll, employee relations, recruiting, safety, training, benefits, compensation, and special projects. 

     

     

    Responsibilities

     

    • Responsible for processing weekly and bi-weekly payroll, salary adjustments, annual merit increases, title changes, department transfers, calculating/processing all payroll transactions.
    • Communicates and interfaces with the Corporate HR and Payroll teams to resolve issues regarding compensation and benefit set-up.
    • Oversees and provides training on Dayforce payroll system to new hires and managers to ensure accuracy of data and timely processing of information to corporate. Responsible for system updates and hourly time clocks.
    • Responsible for managing Fitness Reimbursement, Education Tuition Reimbursement, and Employee Purchase programs for all employees. Responsible for setting up 401(k) deferrals and supporting corporate processing of  401(k) loans and hardship withdrawals.
    • Implement and maintain human resources programs and services, including employee relations, conflict resolution, recruiting/staffing, training and development, records management, safety and health, retention, exit interviews, and reward and recognition.
    • Assists in keeping employees informed of all changes to company policies.
    • Coordinates and participates with production management in disciplinary action or termination procedures involving hourly employees.
    • Administers and maintains FMLA, STD/LTD, workers’ compensation and personal leaves in accordance with the law and company policies for all employees. Processes claims and tracks time away from work.
    • Tracks employees on leave of absence to maintain benefit coverage and ensure payments of premiums are collected.
    • Compiles accident reports for workers compensation and provides information to carrier. Works closely with workers compensation carrier in providing background documentation.  Researches files and records to gather pertinent information for worker’s compensation claims, investigations. 
    • Reviews release/return to work papers from physicians and interfaces with management regarding return to work, light duty restrictions, reasonable accommodations, and temporary job placements as needed.
    • Maintains all employee medical files. This includes accident reports, physician notes, disability leaves and has a complete understanding of HIPAA regulations.
    • Administers Concur/American Express enrollments, notifies Corporate upon termination, and maintains a log of active card holders.
    • Conducts exit interviews with employees in non-management positions to determine reasons behind resignations.
    • Assists the HR Manager with revising and developing new job descriptions and maintains a job description data base.
    • Coordinates wellness events, annual flu shots, blood drives and other on-site activities.
    • Works on special projects relating to the development of new HR initiatives as directed by the HR Manager

     

    Qualifications

    • Must have effective interpersonal and customer service skills and be able to interact with all levels of employees and management
    • Must be able to maintain confidentiality and possess and maintain a high level of professionalism
    • Experience with a HR/Payroll system
    • Strong experience and significant working knowledge of Federal and RI State employment laws
    • Customer focused, sound judgment, and excellent problem solving skills
    • Strong organization, communication and people skills
    • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals
    • Experience with iCiMS applicant tracking system (a plus)
    • Proficient computer skills to include Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and PowerPoint

    Education and Experience:

    • Successful candidate will have 5+ years’ Human Resource experience with demonstrated leadership potential
    • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or a related field or equivalent combination of education, experience, and certifications. 
    • PHR or SHRM-CP preferred
