    Position Overview:

    Based in our North Kingstown, RI facility, and reporting to the Manager, Platform Engineering, this position will manage insourced and outsourced software engineering projects for innovative pool product platforms worldwide (current products are shown at www.hayward-pool.com). As a Hayward Sr. Project Manager, this position will be involved in software architecture, while managing and executing software design and development from concept through volume production in a cross-functional team environment to ensure that the highest levels of design quality and performance are observed.

    Responsibilities

     

    • Provide technical leadership and project ownership for platform development projects for the pool controls group at Hayward.
    • Provide input on software architecture based on product needs. Provide feedback and direction to the software group during reviews of stories and epics in support of project and platform objectives.
    • Lead cross-functional engineering teams to meet product and company objectives. Define project major milestones and report progress from concept to production.
    • Coordinate engineering tasks, agency regulations, testing and mitigations as necessary, orchestrate design reviews, support prototype, Alpha and Beta builds and testing for all phases of development.
    • Conduct architecture and design feasibility and trade-off studies in support of product development.
    • Ability to summarize and provide concise status reports of project progress. Ability to define issues encountered during development and provide options and recommendations for resolution.
    • Manage internal resources and outside vendors/partners in pursuit of project deliverables. Ability to review 3rd party statements of work and hold resource accountable to defined deliverables and expenditures.
    • Orchestrate and coordinate team activities such as design concept brainstorming, 3P Kaizen and FMEA.
    • Collaborate with Hayward Engineering Services resources for Reliability Engineering and Product Testing/Compliance.
    • Communicate design requirements to Hayward manufacturing and outside suppliers.

    Qualifications

    Experience/Qualifications:

    • 15+ years of experience in a software engineering product development environment.
    • 5+ years of experience leading cross-functional development efforts. 
    • Demonstrated experience working in an Agile based software development environment.
    • Experience in firmware-electronics integration and embedded systems development.
    • Demonstrated cloud integration or architecture experience.
    • Knowledge of pool safety standards and agency regulations.
    • Design and development of medium to high-volume consumer products a plus. Demonstrated experience with the development of products from concept to final manufacture, balancing cost, performance and schedule requirements with Voice of the Customer in the design process.
    • Demonstrated experience in interfacing with manufacturing engineering.
    • Knowledge of design process tools such as DFMA, FMEA, technology readiness analysis, etc.
    • Experience with configuration management and the engineering change control process.
    • Strong interpersonal, communication and analytical skills; skill at developing and delivering technical subject matter presentations to non-technical staff and executives.
    • Team player who works across multiple functional areas to deliver project requirements.

    Education:

    • Computer Science or Engineering related degree with 15+ years of experience
