    Position Overview:

    Must be able to operate conventional machines and/or CNC lathes and/or mills.  Responsible for cutting, shaping and forming work pieces to blueprint specifications by performing the following duties.


    Major Tasks and Responsibilities:

    • Must be able to produce and maintain quality parts to meet production standards.
    • Must deburr parts when needed to remove excess rough edges and washes parts during machining cycle to remove coolant.
    • Must be familiar with the operation of a variety of machines in the department.
    • May perform routine maintenance on machines.
    • Ability to use measuring instruments and all other quality control devices and instruments to check for conforming parts.
    • Must be able to understand job processes and basics of machine operation.
    • Observes and listens for worn or damaged cutting tools in machining operations and change as needed.
    • Must be able to load and unload parts correctly to prevent machine damage.
    • Makes simple offsets and/ or manual adjustments to make a conforming part under ISO standards.
    • Responsible for completing daily set up sheets, hourly inspection sheets, indirect labor sheets, reporting scrap and making labels and move tickets as needed.
    • Receives direct supervision from Machine Shop Supervisor or other members of management as directed.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.



    • Must be able to read, comprehend and interpret blueprints. Ability to read and write simple correspondence and memos. Ability to present machining information to employees and management of the organization and present information to an auditor for the purpose of ISO acceptance.
    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, percent and simple geometry and trigonometry.
    • Ability to carry out written and oral instructions and the ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.

    Education & Experience:

    Successful completion of a certified mold-making apprenticeship program, machinist certification or degree and/or a minimum of 3-7 years equivalent experience working in a mold building and repair capacity.  Prior machine shop experience and/or basic machine shop training desired.
