    Position Overview:

    The Rework Technician evaluates parts to determine if parts or scrapped parts are applicable.  Studies and investigates problems to determine acceptable course of action.  Regularly consults with QA, Engineering, Secondary Department, Planners and other warehouse personnel.


    Major Tasks and Responsibilities:

    • Visually inspects parts to determine if sorted parts and scrapped parts are applicable.
    • Decides if defect has an affect with the function of the part and determines if rework is sufficient.
    • Reviews hold tickets to verify hold amounts and that the wording is accurate; proofreads hold list to verify accuracy; close and turn in hold tickets with tallies.
    • Consults with Secondary Department for use of secondary equipment or specialized fixtures and equipment for specified problems.
    • Reworks parts to specifications of the engineers or Quality department’s acceptable standards.
    • Breaks down rejected parts to salvageable parts; all salvageable parts are RTS to warehouse locations.
    • Sets up and operates baggers.
    • Utilize AS/400 to locate and verify work orders and x-orders, as well as look up stock locations and allocation of parts.
    • Sends out emails to various departments concerning reworks, assembly and NCMR reworks, closed and new work orders, x-orders and allocation of parts; document the action that was taken and the ending results of those parts.
    • Consults with planners on closed work orders, new work orders or x-orders and allocation of parts.
    • Makes data entries into the computer on amounts of rework performed in the NCMR area.
    • Physically takes rejected parts to regrind area or dumpster after decisions of parts have been made.
    • Meets and coordinates with warehouse personnel on NCMR items; Confers on items that are located in the NCMR hold area; warehouse personnel are informed of where rework is performed, when rework was performed and the ending result of the NCMR item.
    • Consults with QA to determine acceptable course of action on problem parts.
    • Consults with Supervisors on re-occurring problem parts that find their way into the re-work area; discuss actions that need to be taken to prevent these re-occurring “Part Problems/Issues”.
    • Organize and oversee the hold area verifying that every item in the area is actually a
      “Hold Item”; confirm that the parts belong there and remove any parts that should be in another location.



    • Must be able to accurately use a variety of hand and power tools including knives. clippers, drills and screwdrivers to perform the job duties.
    • Ability to follow proper trimming methods and appropriate use of tools required for rework.
    • Must be familiar with the AS/400 system.
    • Must have experience with Lotus Notes.


    Education and Experience:

    High school diploma and at least one year in an injection molding manufacturing environment preferred.  Experience at Hayward and with Hayward’s products a definite plus.
