The intern will learn material flow throughout the factory and the impact it has on the business. The scope will include purchasing, receiving, production, replenishment (from supplier, from warehouse, from production line, etc.) and basic plant operations. The intern will assist in improving these areas of the business.

 

 

Responsibilities

Projects and Areas of Focus

  • Reduction of third party warehouse pallet count
  • Assist in the improvement of material flow within the factory while establishing appropriate processes
  • Assist in the improvement of inventory accuracy
  • Assist in the improvement of changeover time on the production lines
  • Optimize floor space.
  • Improve and update SOP procedures in Receiving/Inventory department.
  • Disposition of obsolete materials.
  • Assist with the reduction of raw material inventory dollars.

 

 

 

Qualifications

 

 

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in the field of Supply Chain Management and in good academic standing.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills, ability to speak and communicate well with internal and external customers.
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office
  • Training in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma is a plus
  • Ability to work with an MRP system
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and effectively prioritize.
