Position Overview:

The Area Sales Manager oversees sales and marketing activities of the organization in South and Central America  by performing the following duties personally, or through assigned sales professionals.  The position to be located in Peru, Chile or Colombia.


Major Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Manage sales activities throughout the region by visiting and supporting engineering firms, OEM’s, distributors, and end user customers to establish new business and expand existing business.
  • Formulate sales plans which incorporate marketing strategy with regard to target market segments within  the specific geographic area.
  • Create specification base for Hayward products with engineering firms and end users for targeted market segments.
  • Lead and manage the selection and development of local or national distributors throughout region.
  • Coordinate development of required marketing tools and initiatives to support sales efforts in targeted markets.
  • Displays or demonstrate products, using samples or catalogs, emphasizing key features, benefits and advantages.
  • Review market analyses to determine customer needs, volume potential, price schedules, and develop sales campaigns to accommodate goals of company.
  • Represent Hayward Flow Control at regional or industry trade shows and association meetings to promote the Company and its products.
  • Training for Engineering,  OEM and End User accounts are essential  responsibilities of the Regional Manager.
  • Provide training  for Distributor sales personnel within  region with regard to both sales tactics and product knowledge.      
  • Coordinate as  liaison between customer service department, technical service, marketing,  product management and  engineering as appropriate to maximize world class sales and service  performance.
  • Develop and  implement an annual sales plan and forecast for the region, to maximize return from the region’s assigned accounts/geographic area
  • Assist Customer Service in the development and maintenance of a comprehensive list  and  profile of key accounts and contacts (direct and indirect) in a CRM.  SalesForce experience preferred.
  • Prepare weekly  reports, monthly itinerary (call reports) and weekly expense  reports in a timely manner and submit to Director of International.
  • Keep the organization fully informed of competitor activities in the region.
  • Analyze sales statistics to assist in promoting sales.
  • Analyze and  control expenditures within assigned region to conform budgetary requirements.
  • Minimum  of 50% of scheduled and completed sales calls should be completed with OEM, Engineer and End User accounts each month.
  • Perform other  business-related duties as assigned.


A minimum of ten years Industry related sales experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Personal computer skills, specifically, Excel, PowerPoint and Word,  as well as mechanical capability is essential.   Experience with a CRM System (SalesForce preferred) desired.

  • Must also possess a valid passport, driver license and be willing and able to travel long distances by car and travel by plane.  Minimum travel requirement of 50%+. 
  • The individual in this position must be able to read, speak, and understand English and Spanish  fluently and  be skilled in written and oral communication.   Language ability in Portuguese is a plus.


Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) in Business or Engineering  from four-year college or university or equivalent preferred.
