Overview

 

Position Overview:

Coordinates the production activities of the Molding Department in order to improve, update, and optimize the department’s process methods.  

 

Responsibilities

Major Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Plans and establishes production operations, sequences, and priorities for the manufacturing of molded parts to ensure that minimum costs and production schedules are maintained.  
  • Recommends production process improvements and cost reduction methods.  
  • Tracks scrap generated by the department; identifies and resolves problems associated with the scrap production.  Reports all scrap issues to senior management.  
  • Reviews production and operational reports and schedules and determines the optimum mold cycle to ensure the production and quality of molded parts meet specifications.  
  • Recommends part quality improvements.  
  • Performs capability studies and DOE.  
  • Tracks changes in processes using Mattec system.  
  • Assists with technical issues in production area.  
  • Documents product structure routings and detail method sheets on the AS400; Evaluates equipment utilization and observes workers in order to develop or revise standard operational procedures and working practices to ensure efficient, cost-saving production methods.  
  • Evaluates resins and new/existing tools, and reports findings to management.  
  • Conducts training in advanced processing control techniques as necessary.  
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Industrial Engineering from four-year college or university and five plus years plastics injection molding experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
