Position Overview:

As a Buyer at Hawyard Industries you will support operations by ensuring that materials are obtained from suppliers consistent with considerations of quality, reliability of source, and urgency. If you are currently working in a buyer, purchasing, or procurement role within the manfucaturing industry check out the addtional opportunties in this position. 


Major Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Reviews MRP exception reports and determines purchase order requirements by examining inventory and ascertaining future needs.
  • Responsible for placement of and follow up on assigned commodity orders.
  • Reviews open order report and expedites delivery of items as necessary.
  • Prepare wire transfer documents for payment to suppliers as needed
  • Initiate documentation for Quality and Engineering approval of new parts via FAI process
  • Interfaces with Production Planning, Receiving, Quality Control, Engineering and other departments to ensure schedule and quality requirements are achieved for all office and/or plant materials.
  • Resolves problems and notifies vendor of any quality, quantity, pricing or delivery issues. 
  • Attends new product meetings to understand new component purchasing responsibilities.
  • Establish/maintain new or existing purchased items into the VMI, Kanban, or PPR system
  • Prepare Capital expense orders as requested
  • Maintain purchasing receiver files
  • Works closely with the commodity Managers as requested regarding new parts and/or suppliers
  • Issue a monthly Supplier Scorecard for designated suppliers
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Education and Experience:

We are seeking professionals with a Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) and 3-5 years experience or an Associate Degree with 4 to 6 years experience.

Prior experience must be in a manufacturing purchasing environment.
