Position Overview:

Assures effective functioning of the facility in order to provide an efficient, safe working environment for employees, using the best business practices to manage resources, services, and processes to meet company needs. 


Major Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Develops and implements a facility management program, including preventative maintenance and life cycle requirements
  • Conducts and documents regular facility inspections
  • Manages to ensure compliance with health and safety standards and industry codes
  • Allocates and manages facility space for maximum efficiency
  • Coordinates all facility moves, renovations, and construction
  • Supervises the maintenance and repair of all equipment
  • Plans and manages facility central services, such as reception, security, cleaning, waste disposal and parking
  • Obtains quotes from vendors and suppliers and manages budget and contracts to maximize cost effectiveness
  • Manages contractor and vendor activities and relationships
  • Responsible for appropriate staffing levels in the department, for efficient utilization
  • Manages performance evaluation, hiring, firing, scheduling, and development of facilities staff
  • Prepares and tracks facilities budget; monitors expenses and payments; provides reports to upper management
  • Responsible for OSHA compliance at all levels, in coordination with the HR manager
  • Assures security of the facility, and responds to alarms and systems failures
  • Other duties may be assigned



Must have working knowledge of principles of project management, business administration, financial practices, and HR management.  Must have working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems; also procurement and contracts.  Sound knowledge of OSHA standards and programs, as well as environmental regulations.


Must have solid computer skills.  Excellent communication skills, organizational skills, negotiation skills.  Must be good at problem-solving, decision-making.  Must have sound judgment, customer service orientation, and teamwork.  Must be adaptable and dependable.


Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Facilities management, engineering, or related qualification such as project management, business or construction management; and ten years related experience in manufacturing industry, and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
