Overview

Position Overview:

This position works with Hayward’s Plant Controllers, Commodity Managers, Engineering, Operations and Finance to insure consistent application of inventory valuations. 

 

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide direction on all existing reporting and the creation of all new reporting both cost and inventory to the company.
  • Coordinate with the Plant Finance person the current cycle counting program as approved by PWC and expose issues that impact the effectiveness of the program.
  • Assist in the coordination and audit of the annual inventory review conducted by PWC.
  • Assist in the coordination and audit of the annual standard costs review conducted by PWC
  • Assist all Hayward locations with support on inventory and costing related issues.
  • Support the Plant Finance person in the development of the annual manufacturing budget and the quarterly forecast updates.
  • Provide control in the development of all cost for the NPD process by being the ultimate sign-off on all cost.
  • Evaluate make vs. buy decisions
  • Evaluate costs for product transfer to other plants, and assist in that decision process
  • Standardize cost accounting methodologies across all Hayward plants worldwide
  • Provide cost account support across all Hayward plants worldwide
  • Assist Product Management, Engineering, Operations, and Marketing as needed
  • Develop controls over Hayward’s cost accounting system/processes to improve the quality and accuracy of our standard costs
  • Maintaining the cost and inventory valuation system
  • Act as the database administrator for the costing system
  • Ongoing maintenance for cost system and insuring all new parts have correct costs
  • Working in conjunction with the operations controller to improve and streamline the cost system and understand the flow of inventory from raw material to finished goods
  • Improve the cycle counting process by identifying and helping to fix B.O.M. problems
  • Work with the facilities management teams to determine the best methods of inventory transaction processing to achieve desired financial results.
  • Lead the support of the inventory focus on effect of transactions on inventory accuracy by creating and maintaining transaction move codes that fit the financial structure of reporting for continuous improvement environment
  • Other duties and special projects may be assigned as needed
  • Travel is limited but must be willing to travel domestically and internationally as necessary.


Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in Accounting from four-year college or university and minimum of 6 years cost & inventory accounting experience in a multi-plant manufacturing environment.  Must have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Experience with AS400 system or similar programs and Computer Associates software a plus. Supervisory experience a plus.  Must be a self-starter who is highly organized, results oriented, able to work independently and without direct supervision, and who works well in a team environment.
