Position Overview:

The Software Quality Assurance Engineer will perform quality assurance/control functions to ensure quality releases of firmware and embedded application software for Hayward’s electronic products and accessories in the residential swimming pool marketplace. Collaborates with team members to ensure extensive test coverage is accomplished.



  • Develop test plans that prove the design and implementation meet system requirements
  • Execute test plans, troubleshoot and accurately report defects
  • Represent SQA at cross-functional team meetings
  • Act as SQA team lead on new feature or product development, overseeing the QA life cycle from planning through release
  • Deliver detailed reports and proof the product meets agreed upon acceptance criteria
  • Direct, mentor and review the work of junior engineers
  • Generate and analyze test metrics to determine quality of the products
  • Develop tests to verify the integrity of low level protocol communication between devices






Demonstrable proficiency in the following:

  • Ability to understand complex system architectures and create efficient approaches to testing
  • Familiar with source control, parallel development and release management techniques
  • Manages complexity by evaluating pros and cons, risks and benefit for different automation solutions
  • Familiar with Agile development, particularly SCRUM
  • Establishes clear responsibilities and processes for monitoring work and measuring results
  • Learns quickly when facing new situation
  • Ability and desire to learn test automation
  • Extracts lessons learned from failures and mistakes
  • Hands-on experience in QA tools and processes: test management systems, bug tracking systems, automation frameworks
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Must have excellent interpersonal communication and teamwork skills
  • Experience within an organization with mature software quality control processes
  • Leadership interest and aptitude
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience



  • BSCS or equivalent four-year degree
