Position Overview:

The Sales Manager oversees sales activities of the organization in a major geographic area or region by performing the following duties personally, or through assigned sales professionals.

Responsibilities

Major Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Manage sales activities throughout the region by visiting and supporting distributors, engineering firms, OEM’s and end user customers to obtain new business and expand existing business.
  • Manage the selection and development of sales representatives and distributors throughout region. 
  • Establish sales quotas and goals for each distributor by means of a joint business plan.
  • Advise sales representatives and distributors concerning sales, advertising techniques and campaigns. 
  • Formulate sales plans which incorporate marketing strategy with regard to target market segment within a specific geographic area. 
  • Analyze sales statistics to assist in promoting sales.
  • Display or demonstrate product, using samples or catalog, and emphasizes salable features. 
  • Review market analyses to determine customer needs, volume potential, price schedules, and develop sales campaigns to accommodate goals of company. 
  • Keep the organization fully informed of competitor activities in the region.
  • Represent Hayward at trade shows and trade association meetings to promote the Company and its products. 
  • Coordinate as      liaison between customer service department, technical service,      engineering and other departments as appropriate to maximize superior      sales and service performance. 
  • Analyze and      control expenditures within assigned region to conform to budgetary      requirements. 
  • Develop and      implement an annual sales plan for the region, including sales strategy,      to maximize return from the region’s assigned accounts/geographic area and      to meet the region’s sales quotas established by the Director of      Sales. 
  • Assist Customer      Service in the development and maintenance of a comprehensive list and      profile of key accounts and contacts (direct and indirect) in a      computerized database. 
  • Prepare monthly      progress reports, monthly itinerary (call reports) and weekly expense      reports in a timely manner and submit to Director of Sales.  Minimum      of 50% of scheduled and completed sales calls should be completed with      OEM, Engineer and End User accounts each month. 
  • Provide training      for territory Representatives and Distributor sales personnel within      region with regard to both sales techniques and product knowledge.       Training for Engineering OEM and End User accounts are essential      responsibilities of the Regional manager and territory      Representatives. 
  • Perform other      business-related duties as assigned by Director of Sales. 

Qualifications

A minimum of ten years related sales experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Personal computer skills and mechanical capability is essential.  Must also possess a valid driver license and be willing and able to drive long distances and travel by plane. 

 

 

Education:

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university preferred.
